Adversity and Fortitude in Pattie Mallette’s Life
Pattie Mallette, Justin Bieber’s mother, has faced a lot of hardship. When she was only two years old, she lost her sister in a horrific tragedy. “My life was really painful as a child,” she had previously stated. After years of maltreatment, she started using drugs and engaging in criminal activity when she was fourteen years old.
At the age of 17, she became a single mother and brought Justin up in “low-income housing.” After trying suicide, she was admitted to the hospital because of mental health problems. She later reconnected with Justin’s father, Jeremy Bieber. Despite her past, Pattie and Justin “bond over their shared love of the arts.”
