Nathaniel, the son of Karen Rodas and Paul Rybkin, lived for only thirty-six hours after his birth.
He was born with polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a rare disorder that can result in renal failure by causing kidney cysts to form.
In 2013, the couple from New Jersey had another child, Maddy, who also suffered the same problem as their first kid. However, after battling the illness for two years, the young girl was given a lifeline by her father.Distribute
Maddy Rbykin spent the first 18 months of her life in and out of the hospital due to her ailment, which caused her stomach to bulge.
Before her health began to decline, Maddy was doing well despite the hospital stays, tubes, and oxygen treatments.
The Mirror claims that Maddy was exhausted, sleeping for up to eighteen hours every day, and throwing up all the time.
In the absence of a qualified kidney donor, doctors were concerned that she might not survive.
A successful procedure
After being found to be a match, her father Paul was able to provide his daughter with the life-saving surgery she required.
Karen reportedly stated, “My nerves were a wreck with Paul and Maddy, two of my most precious souls, going under the knife,” according to The Mirror.
Both the father and the daughter are doing well after the successful operation.
“Our little girl has been saved by Daddy’s kidney,” Karen continued. She has endless energy now. She is now a happy and healthy two-year-old with a huge belly that only appears slightly rounder.
According to a humble Paul, he would have taken the same course of action as any other parent.
“A content and healthy young girl”
“Even though we’ve been through a lot, any parent would have given Maddy my kidney like I did. According to The Mirror, he stated, “It’s a part of being a parent.”
“We are feeling great right now and can see Maddy develop into a contented and healthy young child.”
For her parents, the fact that Maddy will require another kidney transplant in 25 years seems like a “lifetime away.”
It’s wonderful to watch Maddy’s growth and how she’s doing now, in 2023. You can follow her journey here, where her mother keeps you updated on how things are going for her daughter. That something could be done makes me very glad. God bless her and her father as well!
