Joshua performed “You Are The Reason” with his mother during week two of The Voice Kids UK 2020.
Joshua was born in Ireland, and both of his parents, including his mother, are natives of the Philippines.
He said, “I assume my mother gave me my voice; she used to sing in a band.”
Will.i.am, Pixie Lott, Paloma Faith, and Danny Jones all turned their chairs as Joshua performed a cover of Calum Scott’s You Are The Reason.
Paloma, one of the coaches, said of the young man’s performance: “I believe from the first minute you sang, I was like, “this is beyond anything I anticipated I’d hear on Voice Kids.”
I don’t believe I’ve ever heard it from a 14-year-old, ever, Danny said. Pixie then made a joke, saying, “I assumed you were singing just to me.”
They were all amazed when Joshua’s mom appeared on stage and performed a little duet with her son.
Joshua was questioned by the coaches about his mom and whether or not she sang, and they encouraged him to bring her up on stage.
No one in the audience could keep a dry eye, and all four experts were moved to tears by this emotional scene.
Because of their love for one another and the talent they both possess, this was a mother-son objective for all of us.
